The Congressional Award

The Congressional Award is the highest Congressional honor for America's youth. It is a public-private partnership created by the United States Congress to promote and recognize achievement, initiative, and service in America's young people.

A young person is not selected to receive the Congressional Award - he or she earns it. Participants earn Bronze, Silver, and Gold Certificates and Bronze, Silver, and Gold Medals. Each level involves setting goals in four program areas:

Participants may choose to begin at any level and may work at their own pace. Young people may register when they turn 13 1/2 years old, start submitting at age 14, and must complete their activities by their 24th birthday.

Gold Medal Ceremony

Each summer, Congress celebrates the hundreds of youth from across the nation who have earned the Congressional Award Gold Medal, the pinnacle of the program. Gold Medalists and their families are invited to Capitol Hill for a once-in-a-lifetime recognition of accomplishments.
